My name is Mark and I am the 3rd generation of my family involved in the memorial/remembrance business. Growing up as a child I am sure I attended more wakes than most people. It was not until I was much older that I understood the importance of attending a wake. Someone that has lost someone close to them needs support from their friends and family to help with the grieving process. Pets are just as big of a part of our lives as many of the people that are in it. I became aware of this because of the love I share with my dog. I have come across many people that suffered the loss of a pet and did not have a place to grieve. Most people did not know what to do when they lost their pet. This is why I started Pet Passing. I created Pet Passing to be a resource for people who don’t have friends who understand the need to openly grieve for their pet. Has a well-meaning (and completely oblivious) friend given you the “just an animal” talk, yet? Our pets are not just animals. Our pets are beloved family members, and major parts of our lives. Their loss is devastating. Creating a memorial for your pet helps the grieving process. There is therapy in writing about the way you feel. Consider an on-line memorial to make a public statement of your feelings. Find friends who won't judge you when you need to cry. I hope Pet Passing helps you through your own grief. It's not so much as getting on with your life, as to keep precious memories in a comfortable place. Sincerely, Mark Joseph |
